LifeLock Compared to Debix
68LifeLock vs Debix Identity Protection
A while ago two friends were debating who was best Debix or LifeLock. I actually paid attention to this “debate” as I too was thinking about purchasing identity protection. This is what I learnt and I hope by pointing out the differences in each company you will be able to decide whether Debix or LifeLock is best for your protection.
Both LifeLock and Debix place fraud alerts for you, renew them when they expire and order your credit report. They also remove you from junk mail and credit card lists. Debix Identity Protection also removes you from telemarketing lists. The differences are Debix’s unique fraud alert system and competitive price, $24/year, compared to LifeLocks additional identity protection services, promising identity theft recovery service and, of course, their $1 million service guarantee.
LifeLock is the market leader when it comes to identity protection companies. They do all the work for their customers and even though a few actions could be done for free such as placing a fraud alert they offer quite a bit more. In order to get market attention and show how confident they are in their ability to protect your identity, Lifelocks CEO actually made his social security number available to everyone by advertising it on national television and the radio. This marketing campaign was successful because this is what made me take notice of them and probably you too. In addition, LifeLock is able to continuously make a name for itself due to the ongoing recognition they receive from others independent agencies and those who partner in identity protection with them.
Lifelock.com has some unique services such as Erecon, True Address and Wallet Lock. Wallet Lock offers lost wallet recovery, Erecon scans illegal databases for your private data to make sure it is not being sold. TrueAddress verifies with databases that your address has not been changed by a criminal. LifeLock is the best identity theft protection company when it comes to protecting children.
LifeLock is ISO 27001 certified which proves that their security procedures at company headquarters in Tempe, Arizona is the best of the best. Their investment in security makes them able to provide top level protection for the private records that people trust them with. They also were the first to offer the $1,000,000 identity theft insurance service guarantee.
Debix, another identity theft protection company gaining ground in the identity theft business, is nearly as good as LifeLock. They also put a Debix Safe Phone Number in your credit report, not your phone number. This keeps personal phone numbers from those that look at your credit file. In addition, during the loan approval request, when creditors call you to verify your identity, it is easy to deny criminal credit applications and report the attempted identity fraud to law enforcement officers. Simply hit star to be connected to a identity theft specialist who will put you in touch with the appropriate authorities where necessary and help you every step of the way.
Debix has a patent pending technology that offers a secure interface for credit protection. Their fraud alert system is great. With Debix you also get an audit trail that ensures the creditor can’t lie about not calling you.
Hopefully this helps you evaluate which service you should use. It seems that you get better credit protection with LifeLock but at $24 a year Debix is certainly in the running and the $75 a year savings is certainly nice given how tight money is for so many people.
I sincerely hope this helps someone decide which service to use or at least gives them the desire to protect their identity. In my opinion, far too many people are idly sitting by doing nothing.

I am a member of both services and I have more notification from Debix. When I cancelled Lifelock I was further informed about the multitude of underlined services that were on my account and the layers of protection. However, over the past months; opening up accounts, changing banks, applying for loans it seems that Lifelock was able to confirm that it was me 100% "everytime" or something got through because the only communication was initiated by myself. I believe they are great services and this website along with others are most helpful.

The 1 million dollar insurance offered by lifelock reads like "WE WILL NOT MAKE PAYMENTS TO YOU FOR ANY LOSS YOU MAY INCUR. OTHER THAN OUR SERVICE GUARANTEE, AND EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE SET OUT HEREIN WE MAKE NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY ABOUT OUR SERVICE OF ANY KIND, AND WE DISCLAIM ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OUTSIDE OF OUR SERVICE GUARANTEE, SUCH AS A WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS OF OUR SERVICE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE."
Basically they will pay if their product fails to work they claim.
